Privacy Policy

Last updated: 24 April 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how Shani Maurya ("I", "me", "my") collects and handles information when you visit shanimaurya.com (the "Website") or hire me for freelance services. I've tried to write this in plain English. If something still isn't clear, email contact@shanimaurya.com and I'll happily explain.

1. Who runs this website

The Website is owned and operated by Shani Maurya, an independent freelance web developer and digital marketer based in Delhi, India. For privacy questions, the point of contact is contact@shanimaurya.com.

2. What information I collect

I only collect what I actually need. That can include:

I do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. The Website is meant for business users.

3. How I use your information

Your information is used to:

4. Legal basis (for EU / UK visitors)

Where the GDPR applies, I rely on (a) your consent (form submissions, analytics cookies), (b) the need to perform a contract with you (project delivery, invoicing), and (c) my legitimate interest in running and securing the Website.

5. Sharing your information

I don't sell your personal data. I share it only with trusted service providers that help me run my business, such as:

These providers have their own privacy policies and process data on my behalf.

6. Cookies

The Website uses a small number of cookies for analytics and basic functionality (e.g. remembering your dark-mode preference). You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Doing so will not break the Website but may reduce the quality of analytics I see.

7. Data retention

Enquiries that don't turn into a project are kept for up to 12 months and then deleted. Client-related data (contracts, invoices, project files) is kept for as long as required by Indian tax and accounting law — typically up to 8 years.

8. Your rights

You can, at any time:

Send any of these requests to contact@shanimaurya.com — I respond within 30 days.

9. Security

I take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your data — HTTPS everywhere, strong passwords, 2FA on all critical accounts, and encrypted backups. That said, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure. I cannot guarantee absolute security.

10. Third-party links

The Website links out to third-party sites (LinkedIn, GitHub, client sites, etc.). I'm not responsible for the privacy practices of those sites. Please read their policies when you visit them.

11. Updates to this policy

I may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top will always reflect the most recent version. Significant changes will be announced on the Website.

12. Contact
